But it doesn't get any easier by the fact that the "market" is swamped by all the young kids looking for a job over summer, while I hope to find a job both during summer and preferably longer than that. Also I have some criteria, I don't want to work at McDonald's or any other fast food place and I don't want to work with telemarketing.

What I would like to work with is what is usually labeled "qualified workforce" but I have some real problems getting those jobs because they often require both a collage education and some work experience. And while I have lots of education from collage I have yet to get a diploma or "graduate" (I'm taking a break from collage) and it's really hard to get experience without first getting a job.

So I guess I'll just have to keep my eyes open, fingers crossed and keep a positive outlook. That would be the first step towards censorship, and although I agree that there are a lot of really bad things that shouldn't be viewed by anyone we are heading down a slippery slope if we let company's, or the government start telling us what to read/listen to/view etc.

So what can we do. But this time it's not about getting back in the game after a breakup, instead it's to try to find a job. I've dedicated the day to go through the internet and signing up on all the job finding sites I can find. Next week, I might try calling some places. But trying to find the right person on a Friday afternoon seems like a big gamble, I might as well go out and buy a lottery ticket. The odds of me winning the jackpot and getting in touch with the person's I need today are roughly about the same.
I don't know if it's the thrill of finally getting of the couch and start looking for a job or the double espresso I'm drinking at the moment that's giving me the buzz I'm feeling, either way I like it.
But finding a job isn't that easy. First of all, there aren't that many jobs to begin with, second, the ones that are out there are probably gonna go to the people with either a) experience or b) better education than me. This leaves me in a bit of a pickle, since by the time the people with experience is out of the picture there is a new bunch of younger persons with higher, better and above all more recent education. Since I at this point don't have a collage degree nor the desire or the willpower to complete the courses I need I'm caught between a rock and a hard place.

I'll keep posting my progress here on this blog.

Until later: Be well and enjoy the fact that it's Friday and spring is here!

It's not just a job...

...it's a duty.

I recently talked about joining the army. And maybe I should clarify some things, 1: I am not someone who likes violence, heck I haven't even been in a real fight in my entire life.
2:I don't think being a soldier is an easy job, or something that should be taken to lightly.
And 3: I am well aware that there is a great risk of getting hurt or killed if one is a soldier.
There are some more bad things I know about being a soldier.

And still I have some thoughts about joining the army out of some specific reasons.
The first one is that I feel it's a duty we in the west have. There are still some people who have good reason to be afraid, even at home. There are more than a dozen wars and minor conflicts in Africa and the sad truth is that in order for other kinds of help to get through there needs to be military present to prevent the help workers from being killed or robbed.
The second reason is that I think it'll put a lot of things in perspective. So what if the store is out of your favorite cereal, it's not a big deal... Does it really matter if the neighbor's dog did it's dirty bushiness on your yard?

So even if the dangerous are great, and the personal gain is little I still think it's well worth doing. Even if it only results in that one child gets a future.

Where to start?

Reading two of my favorite webcomics I learned two disturbing news:
First George Lucas is trying once more to get all the money he can from Star Wars and I wish him luck, because I'm not biting this time, I've bought the DVD's, seen the movies on the big screen, played the videogame and bought the CCG. Well no more! I've got better things to spend my money on, like DVD boxes of Angel, Buffy or Firefly (haven't seen it yet but seems very good). So yes, Joss Whedon is my Master Now!

And the next one: WTH? This one needs to be stopped, please someone start a petition. This is a crime against nature and a mental violation of my mind!

And in other news, spring is FINALLY here to stay, today I hung in my winter coat and took out my spring/fall jacket. Why is that?
Sure the name Revolution is cooler but the name Wii is revolutionary, that little poem was a nice touch as well, how Wii symbolizes players playing together. And that's really what's it all about, what are some of most popular games right now, and I'm not talking about the games for the hard core gamers? It's the party games, where you sing, dance and do things with the videogame as a tool. It's not the best games, but you have so much more fun playing with and against your friends.

Now back to the name, Wii is a new name, it's a new word, embrace it, use it. Make it OUR word, make the word Wii stand for gamers playing games together. After all, the amount of people playing videogames is increasing, time to show that we are not violent psychos out to hurt and kill people!
So join me in my endeavor and Wii shall continue to play games in a friendlier world!

Life is to short...

... for me to really motivate me for working with unnecessary assignments and to top it of having to work with annoying and thick headed people. Unfortunately I need to do these things in order to get a good education and with that hopefully get a good job. Which would be acceptable, if it weren't for the fact that my motivation for school is close to none and there are almost no jobs for me when/if I graduate. So what is there for me to look forward to?

The thought about joining the army has occurred to me, which would not only give me something to do but also would make me appreciate the everyday life so much more. But with my luck I'd be sent to some hostile zone (not Iraq, my country don't have any troops in Iraq at the moment) and have my life considerably shortened.

Had I lived in the 18:th or 19:th century there would be a lot of places one could go and explore, join an expedition and discover Africa or some other foreign part of the world. Would I attempt that now I would not only not find any thing new and unknown but also probably run into a McDonald's on my way. (Hmm, McWilderbeast?)

And although I like playing videogames, hanging out with my friends and watching movies. Not to mention I love spending time with my girlfriend I feel a sense of wanting to do more, put my mark on the world. Do something that will be remembered. The name Wii might not be at first glance the coolest name but I think it's with thinking like this Nintendo will be winning some points. We can all think of a few more or less stupid jokes about the new name, but so what, it's a name that has a lot of potential, both doing something graphicly nice or using it in different ways.
But come on, if you are in to videogames that much, you are most likely to some extent a geek (like me)... So what are you so affraid of, that the PlayStation- or Xbox-fanboys will tease you they most likely are. Or are you affraid that EA games will say "we can't release any games to a system with a stupid name like that"?

Therefore I say: I can't wait to play with my Wii! Talk about irony.
So today will be a short post, I'm to stressed out to write anything good, but I'll be making up for it this weekend. So no more ramblings for today.

Do not feed...

the trolls!

I can't stress this enough people, if you find a troll on a forum, ignore him. And that might be true, but I have a question, there are to ways one can look at that.
1: Everybody is accepted and we all can speak to our "neighbors" even if the neighbor is living on the other side of the planet.
2: It is a closed community, where we are very suspicious of any one who is from the outside and any one different is to be feared and mistrusted.
Well people, what do you think? In my, not so humble, opinion the answer is somewhere in the middle (a very bold statement I know). But I have friends whom I have never seen and still feel close to, while I have yet to get to know my neighbors. I think this is true for most of us that frequently use the internet and it will only increase. Because here on the internet we can be the one who we want to be. A person who is very shy can be very bold and outspoken and it also gives us the possibilities to explore the darker side of our selves. Just look at all the filth that is available online. So what does this mean?
I think we should embrace the opportunities of meeting new and exciting people but we should not forget the ones who happen to live close. Because if you one day need help with your yardwork or help to fix the car your friend in Tokyo or New York won't be able to do much, and when you want to discuss the latest episode of your favorite TV series your blind 82 year old neighbor might not be the right person to ask.
We have a limited amount of time here on earth and friends are what makes it worth it!

With friends like this

Well you know the saying.
It's not me that experienced the pain of being hurt by a friend, but someone close to me, my girlfriend who had two (!) of her most sore points litteraly stepped on by one of our mutual friends. And to top it of, followed by at "Tada!". It wasn't probably ment to be hurtful but it really hurt my girlfriend.
And, allthough I shouldn't complain to much, I'm stuck here in the middle. I still want to keep the other person as a friend but at the moment it looks like it is going to be close to imposible.
I wish life had a "Undo" buttom, would make life so much easier. But all I can do at this point is to try to be a good boyfriend and also let the friend know just how bad the comment was.

Sigh!

When does life get easy again?

3... 2... 1...

Here goes nothing!

I've decided to start my own blog, not knowing if I can keep up and what to write. All this and not knowing if anyone is going to read it...
Oh well, first of I can say that this blog won't be an indepth blog on a single topic, like many people have, they write about their intersets, current poilitical issues or about their favorite football team. Instead I'll be writeing this blog kinda like I am, it will be a mix of political reflectation, the current state in the video game industry and the comedy/tragedy that is my everyday life.

Well, today I've been working hard on an assignment for a class that I' ve been ignoring for a couple of weeks, and while I am making progress it is going slowly. Why am I so lazy with school work? I know it's not going to be easier if I ignore it, instead it's often the opposite. Hopefully I'll get my act together but it won't be wasy.

On the positive side is the fact that sping is here to stay, we've been enduring winter up untill mid april here so we can finally start to move all the winter garments to the basement.

That's what I've got for today, hopefully I'll be back soon with more of my ramblings.
